Management of Layered Variable Bitrate Multimedia Streams over DiffServ with A Priori Knowledge

Description

Goal of this work is efficient support of layered variable bitrate streams in the CORAL system. To achieve this, an offline algorithm to calculate "useful" remapping intervals a priori has to be implemented first. Then, an algorithm which efficiently maps the available bandwidth to the streams online, based on the calculated intervals, cost of the mapped bandwidth and the users' perceptual quality has to be designed. Finally, the complete system has to be evaluated by measurements.
