Open PhD Position
The research group ISSI (Information Systems and Security) at the
Department of Computer Science of the University of Dortmund,
Germany, offers a PhD position for preparing a dissertation
that contributes to an ongoing project on
"controlled query evaluation".
Controlled query evaluation aims at providing
informative answers to sequences of queries, while preserving the
confidentiality of the specific sentences of a security policy,
even if the user can take advantage of a priori knowledge,
previous answers, and inferences based on that.
Appropriate concepts have been introduced by Sicherman et al and
Bonatti et al, and further studied and extended
by Biskup, Bonatti and Weibert,
using a logic-oriented approach to information systems.
The specific topic of the dissertation is open to discussion, but should
fit the research agenda of the group.
Applicants should have received a qualified university
diploma/master degree in computer science or closely relatred sciences.
Sufficient background knowledge
in the fields "security in computing" and/or "logic in computer science"
is appreciated.
Interested students are invited to contact Joachim Biskup
for more detailed information and to inspect the web pages of the ISSI group,
using the addresses given below.
After the selection process,
a formal application for a PhD grant must be directed
to the DFG-Graduiertenkolleg on
"Mathematische und ingenieurwissenschaftliche Methoden
fuer sichere Datenuebertragung und Informationsvermittlung"
